History

Rehoboth Lodge on Bethel Estate was developed from 2002. The Lodge was developed in conjunction with the main house, and Meerkat Lodge which remains part of the setting overlooking the Maluti Mountains and wide open countryside.
In May 2013, Martin and Linda purchased the property from Hanneke van den Dolder and wish to continue providing the wonderful experience developed over the years since the Lodges were opened.

                           The owners

Martin hails from Somerset in the United Kingdom and is a business man involved in the Mining Industry throughout Africa.

Linda, an Accountant, now running the lodges, was raised in Camperdown, Natal and moved to Johannesburg, where they later met and married.

They have four children, and three grandchildren, who are scattered throughout South Africa and often come to the Lodge for a visit.

Their desire to move back to the countryside, where their roots were formed, has driven them to look for the most perfect of places to settle for their retirement. Their energy and drive will ensure that Rehoboth and Meerkat Lodge’s history will be maintained for many years to come.

Rehoboth Lodge  and Meerkat Lodge on Bethel Estate, Clarens

We Offer a six sleeper, Rehoboth Lodge and a two sleeper, Meerkat Lodge. These comfortable self catering facilities can be described as magnificent in their setting at the foothills of the Maluti mountains, where clear open views are complimented by the ambience of the accommodation.  Each Lodge has a fireplace, for those chilly nights, that may have snow capped mountains to keep you company.  Both Lodges have spacious rooms, TV, DSTV, secure covered parking, electric blankets, braai facilities and fully equipped  kitchens. Linen and towels are also supplied.

A boutique vineyard has been planted by the owners. A covered viewing deck has been added to the facilities where guests can sit and enjoy a sun downer watching  the ever changing landscape.  Often mongoose, duiker, hare and a variety of bird life can be seen.

We look forward to seeing you at our Lodges.
